This web site is operated by the Scottish Economic Society, a registered Scottish charity (SCO 21757) devoted to furthering the teaching and practice of Economics in Scotland. Its raison d'être is to handle registrations for the Society's Annual Conference, an international scientific conference for all sub-fields of Economics.
Write an email to the Webmaster.
Registration deadline: March 29th, 2010
The following couple of paragraphs describe your registration options. Pick one, then select the corresponding button in the registration section below.
We recommend our standard all-in-one package comprising accomodation (from April 12th to April 14th), all meals and events, transportation in between the conference venues, the conference pack and a one-year membership of the Scottish Economic Society. This will cost £ 348 (£ 318 if you are already a member of the SES). And yes, this is below cost. See the extras section below for booking additional nights.
There is also an option available if you just want to attend the scientific programme and do not want to stay at the conference hotel or take part in the social events. Day delegate registrations cover lunch and coffee/tea breaks, however. The rate is £ 40 for Monday, and £ 60 each for Tuesday and Wednesday. If you change your mind and want to come along for a social event, you will be given the opportunity to pay for the difference in cost on the spot.
A total of ten standard packages will be available for delegates currently registered for a PhD or Master's degree at a reduced cost of £ 160. If more than ten persons apply for this reduction, we will award it to the presenters of the ten best papers submitted by March 19th. We have to ask the remaining applicants kindly to register using one of the standard options detailed above. Please note that this contest is entirely separate from the Cairncross competition. In order to apply for a reduced cost package, please write an email to Klaus Beckmann and hold your reservation until notified of the outcome.

If you have any special requests, such as extending your stay at the Ramada, bringing a spouse with you, or if you have dietary requirements, the Ramada front desk will be happy to help you. You can contact them electronically at "RV.Ramada Perth" or by telephone (+44 (0) 844 8159105). This arrangement works very well -- much better than having SES officers try to co-ordinate the "specials". Feel free to contact us if you have any request to make or if there is a problem, however.

We use PayPal for all payments of registration fees. This system is very convenient for our members as you can use any banking account or credit card, and do not need to register for a PayPal account. Plus, of course, it can all be done on-line. While you will receive an email receipt from PayPal after registration, our Treasurer will also issue a paper receipt that you can find in your Conference Pack upon your arrival in Perth.
Please choose one of the options given below. For multiple day delegate registrations, please repeat the process by re-visiting this web site. (We regret that we do not have a shopping cart, but then we're a charitable learned society and not a business.)
Note that this includes membership dues for the calendar year 2010, and that you become a member for this year by virtue of registering for the conference.
Clicking one of the buttons below will take you to PayPal's UK site and allow you to make a payment into a PayPal account owned by the Scottish Economic Society, registered Scottish charity SCO 21757.
If there are any problems, please send a mail to the conference organising team.

The Scottish Economic Society will award a prize of £ 1000 for the best paper presented at the 2010 annual conference by an economist currently registered for a PhD or who has successfully completed a PhD within the last five years. Consideration for the prize presupposes conference attendance and society membership. If you want to enter the competition and have not already indicated this upon submitting your paper, please write a short note to Klaus Beckmann and let us know. The winning paper will be announced at the Sir Alec Cairncross Dinner on the first night of the conference, so please make sure you send in a full paper by the March 23rd deadline!
