This web site is operated by the Scottish Economic Society, a registered Scottish charity (SCO 21757) devoted to furthering the teaching and practice of Economics in Scotland. Its raison d'être is to handle registrations for the Society's Annual Conference, an international scientific conference for all sub-fields of Economics.

The Sir Alec Cairncross Memorial Dinner will be on Monday. This will be preceded by a Civic Reception hosted by John Hulbert, Provost of Perth and Kinross Council. At the dinner the Cairncross Prize will be awarded. The Conference Dinner will be held on Tuesday at The Falkirk Wheel. This will be preceded by a boat tour of the installation.
The 2012 SES President's Lecture will be held by Gregory Clark, Professor of Economics at the University of California, Davis. The topic for the SES Policy Forum in 2011 will be "Devolution and Fiscal Independence".
A new feature of the programme is that there will be special sessions on econometrics techniques and on publishing targeted at PhD students and younger lecturers.

Please note that you do no need to subscribe to PayPal in order to register, and that you can pay with any major credit card or via bank transfer. Registration will close on March 30th. Please make sure that you have read the instructions before clicking any buttons!
The Mercure Perth Hotel offers extra nights for delegates at a special rate. If you arrive before the Monday and/or leave on the Thursday or later, please call (00 44 844 815 9105 / option 2) or send an email and make your wishes known. This also applies to dietary requirements.
Accompanying spouses and partners, however, should be registered through us. This enables us to make sure that a sufficient number of seats is available at the conference function. If you want to register an accompanying person, please drop us a line at ses@public-economics.com.
Any applicable fees for extras will be collected by the Mercure Perth Hotel at their reception desk when you check out.
Registration for the conference is now closed. Please note that Scottish PhD students of Economics are still invited to attend Monday's programme (excluding the evening entertainment) free of charge. The final conference programme will be made available here on the Easter weekend. We are looking forward to meeting you in Perth!

The Scottish Economic Society will award a prize of £ 1000 for the best paper presented at the 2012 annual conference by an economist currently registered for a PhD or who has successfully completed a PhD within the last five years. Consideration for the prize presupposes conference attendance and society membership.
